Encouraging Learning Beyond Boundaries
The Constitution of India's Article 51A(h) states that the fundamental duties expected from the people of the Republic of India are to develop scientific temper, humanism, the spirit of inquiry and learning and reform. To ensure these duties and to popularize science and technology across the country and to promote scientific temper and rationality in the society, the National Council of Science Museums was established as an autonomous governing body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Which is engaged in the noble work of developing scientific temperament and science communication among the public through science centres spread across the country.
To give impetus to these efforts of science dissemination in Himachal Pradesh, the foundation stone of Palampur Science Centre, Palampur was laid on 16 February 2014 by the then Chief Minister Hon'ble Shri Virbhadra Singh and the then Culture Minister of the Government of India, Hon'ble Smt. Chandresh Kumari; And on 14 May 2022, it was dedicated to the people of the country by Hon'ble Shri Anurag Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The Dhauladhar mountain's picturesque valleys overlooked by Palampur; and the fragrance of love for nature and harmony in air of Palampur that attracts thousands of tourists from India and abroad. Demystification of science in playful manner and provide activity based science learning experience to the visiting tourists and local people Palampur Science Centre, Palampur has Fun Science Gallery, Science Park, Untamed Earth Gallery, Rise of Digital India Exhibition, Innovation Hub, Science Demonstration & Taramandal etc. facilities. This website of Palampur Science Centre, Palampur will be quite useful in this digital era for the dissemination of information pertaining to the various programs, competitions, entry fees, terms & conditions and other information regarding centre.
